Museum in Bandung (part 3)

Museum Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi
Museum Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi is located in Jl. Lembong, in front of the Panghegar Hotel. The museum is built and open to preserved the spirit of  West Java community struggle  history, especially the struggle of KODAM Siliwangi. The museum collections is weapons and others objects used in the past struggle of the young West Java people to oppose various forms of colonialism but maintaining the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia. The museum collections include spears, arrows, Kujang dagger, and Molotov bomb, up to modern weapons such as panzer rail (made in Indonesia), guns, and armoured tank. The Museum is easily reached by the city transportation of Ledeng-Kebon Kelapa and Dago-Kebon Kalapa route.


The Buildings itself was the residence of the Dutch officers. After the independence, the building was taken over by Siliwangi troops and used as the headquarters of Siliwangi Division (Militaire Akademie Bandung) in 1949-1950. On May 23, 1966 the building was open as Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi Museum by the Commander of the 8th Siliwangi Division, Colonel Ibrahim Adjie.

Museum Barli
Museum Barli was established on 26 October 1992 as manifestation of the love of art from Barli Sasmitawinata. He is a member of Kelompok Lima Bandung, together with Affandi, Hendra Gunawan, Wahdi Sumanta, dan Sudarso. In their developing, The variety of the activities which organize in special room as: exhibition of fine art creation (in room exhibition), selling of exhibit creation, discuss, saresehan about fine art with variety titles are: social, culture, economic, and IPTEK (in discuss room), selling of creation, souvenir, workshop, studio training of painting (training room), published of schedule, and documentation. 

Open Schedule: 
Saturday - Thursday : 09.00 - 17.00 WIB 
friday and national holiday is closed. 
For every body that interest to visit this museum can come in Saturday until Thursday on 09.00 – 17.00 WIB. While on Friday and holiday closed.

Museum in Bandung (part 2)

Museum Asia Afrika
Located Gedung Merdeka at Jalan Asia Afrika Number 65 Bandung, Museum Asia Afrika make visitors flashback about The Asian-African Conference. Visitors can learn social culture and the role of the Asian African nations, especially Indonesia in the international life and political arena. The museum also facilitates researchers relating with Asia, Africa, and developing countrie sin education and scientific purposes for Indonesian people and youth, for the youth of Asian-African Countries in general, as well as providing inputs for the government to conduct its foreign policy. There is a display of diorama of the opening session of the Asian-African Conference in 1955. Visitor also can enjoy the library and the audiovisual room to enhance the knowledge  regarding Asia Africa.

Friday: 14.00 - 16. 00 WIB
Saturday - Sunday: 09.00 - 16.00 WIB

Museum Sri Baduga:
Museum Sri Baduga was build in 1974 using the old building, Kawedaan Tegallega. Placed near Tegallega park (Bandung Lautan Api monument), This Museum is a place to learn about the sundanese history from ancient time until now. Museum Sri baduga was opened to public in 1980 under name of Museum Negeri Jawa Barat. In 1990 Sri Baduga was put together. Visitor can enjoy the stones, fossil, artefact from prehistory time of Sundanese people, as well as religion, culture, technology and language related to Sundanese people. They have a lot of collections in ethnography, archeology, numismatic, old manuscript, philology,  and ceramics.

Museum in Bandung (part 1)

Bandung is famous for culinary, fashion, and nature activity.  if you fed up with those activity, alternatively, you also can enjoy  to visit museums in Bandung.

Museum Geologi Bandung
Jl. Diponegoro No. 57 Bandung Jawa Barat
The first and the most visited one is Museum Geologi. located near Gedung Sate (The West Java Governor office, building icon of Bandung), this museum become an interesting geotourism. Museum geologi was opened on 16 May 1929 under the name of Geologische Museum and closely associated with mining research in Indonesia by colonial government (Dutch East Indies). Now, the collections are included rocks, minerals, meteorites, fossils, and artifacts. Visitors also can learn about how the earth was formed, geological phenomenann in Indonesia and the relations between geology and human life. Major attractions of the Museum Geologi include the fossils of Homo erectus, the prehistoric elephant Stegodon trigonocephalus, and the biggest known species of carnivorous dinosaur Tyrannosaurus rex that existed during the Cretaceous period.

Museum Pos Indonesia
After visiting Museum Geologi, you can also visit Museum Pos Indonesia which also closed to Gedung sate. The present of this museum is inseparable with the history of Indonesia Post Company. Museum Pos Indonesia is opened in 1933 by Dutch east Indies under name of PTT (Post Telegraph and Telephone) Museum. At first, this museum became a place to collect stamps from various countries. visitor can enjoy the philately collections as well as all the objects in correlation with Indonesian postal during Dutch Indies accupation, Japan occupation and independent era until now in the form of pictures, mock-ups, painting, catalogue, and other postal equipment.

Every day from 09.00-1600 except on national holidays.

Jakarta Bandung by bus

going to Bandung from Jakarta using a bus can be a nice alternative. The price is quite cheap only 50000-60000 rupiah per person for business/executive class with airconditioner. They are cleaner and nicer compare to local bus in Jakarta and economy class.You can choose the nearest bust station from your point. Most of them will arrive in Bandung at Leuwi Panjang Central station
